Oak class homework for second part of Autumn Term

Dear parents and guardians,

Firstly, I would like to thank everyone for the incredible effort that went into the Ancient Greek homework. Your help at home meant that all the children were thrilled and excited about the topic and it became so much more relevant to them. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and the classroom looked amazing with all the models and armour.

Oak’s new topic is ‘Come and celebrate with us’. During this topic we will be discovering different countries and their culture. We will look at a range of festivals, carnivals and religious celebrations.

It would be fantastic if the children could pick 3 out of the following options to research (2 weeks to research each celebration). Any research that they present would be appreciated for show and tell on Fridays and for display in the classroom.

Festivals Around the World: Due for the 18th November, 2nd December and 16th December

  • Chinese New Year
  • Çocuk Bayrami
  • Diwali
  • Eid al-Fitr
  • Holi
  • May Day
  • Raksha Bandhan

Create a detailed poster about the feasts, traditions, activities, and special clothing associated with the celebration.

If there are any other traditions or celebrations that you would like to present in a different way, please ask but I do encourage creativity.
