Race for life February 10th 2017

On Friday 10th February, children, staff and pupils from Plymtree School joined together to complete their Race for Life for Cancer Research UK. For the past month, children have been collecting sponsors for the cause. All year groups from reception to year 6 took part in this event, completing either 1, 2 or 3 laps around the village. It was a bitterly chilly morning for the run, but the children powered through wearing their pink and blue clothing to show their
support for Cancer Research. Parents, grandparents and staff played an important role, either stewarding the race, or taking part in the race themselves, accompanying the students and providing continuous support, ensuring all pupils wore big grins on their faces.  As students began to finish their energy and smiles didn’t drop; they fought through, resulting in every
student finishing the run happily and feeling accomplished.
After completion of the run, Mrs Alex Cutler (Head of School) had the pleasure to present those who took part, with medals to congratulate them on their good efforts and to thank them for taking part in the Race for Life. We don’t know how much we have collected for the charity yet as the children will be collecting their sponsor money during half term, but we were so very proud of the children’s commitment and enthusiasm, many of whom were racing for someone they knew.

Thank you so much to all the children, you were amazing, to all the parents, grandparents and staff who ran, stewarded (it was soooo cold) or supported!
