Athletics Tournament
On the 6th November, a group of 12 children attended the Sporthall Athletics competition at Cullompton Sports Centre. The children completed a range of activities such as running, speed bounce and vortex throws. They all worked hard as a team and as individuals to compete. The children came an impressive 3rd place out of the 5 schools who attended, all of whom were larger schools in the area. We are really proud of the children for their efforts. Many thanks also go to the parent drivers who helped transport the children.
Netball and Basketball Finals
Our Netball and Basketball teams attended the CVSA Finals this week. The children performed brilliantly throughout the tournament coming 2nd in the Netball and winning the Basketball tournament overall. This is a fantastic effort for our small school and we are exceptionally proud of all the children who took part.
Football Matches against Culmstock
Both our football teams were in action this week against Culmstock school this week. Our year 3/4 children played some excellent football against a very good Culmstock team. Despite an overall result of a 5-0 loss, the children played some better football and have shown great improvements - well done to all!
Our Year 5/6 team, who have been playing well this season, enjoyed a great start to the game with some excellent passing and some great goals finishing the first half 3-1 up. Unfortunately, an initially nervous Culmstock team came to life in the second half and scored 3 goals (including a wonder-strike from the half way life!) Sadly these 3 goals meant the end result was a 4-3 loss. A great game for all the spectators to watch and some super football from all the children. The next game for the squad is the 28th February against Kentisbeare School. A big thank you to Mr Diamond and Mr Vittles who refereed for a game each.
Bicton Cross Country
Well done to our 3 Plymtree Cross Country Teams who braved the weather at Bicton College on Friday to compete in the East Devon Schools Cross Country Trials after qualifying at Killerton before half term which was a fantastic achievement in itself.
Sadly we did not progress to the Devon Winter Games in March however we can be extremely proud of the commitment, determination and team work displayed by all of our competitors who tried so hard representing Plymtree against some much bigger schools.
A special mention to Jacob V and Will D who were identified by the organisers as having great determination and both received spirit of the games medals. Thank you to Miss P and Mr Fountain for your continuous encouragement for Plymtree sport and to the parents who came along to support the teams.
Great Effort Plymtree!
