Admission Arrangements

All local authorities must coordinate admissions in their area. Devon has a coordinated admissions scheme which means that all parents /carers can now apply for 2 primary schools in rank order and will receive the offer of a single place.

Parents/carers who are thinking of applying for a place at Plymtree C of E Primary School  are advised to make an appointment to see the school and Head of School. Here the procedure will be discussed in more detail.

Parents/carers with children in other year groups are still expected to go through the local authority although the procedure can be discussed during a visit to the school.

The Appeals Process

Any parent who is refused admission has the right to an appeal that is independent of the school. We use the Independent Devon Admissions Appeal Panel to handle any appeals being made. For further information, please call My Devon or visit https://new.devon.gov.uk/educationandfamilies/school-information/apply-for-a-school-place/school-appeals

The Appeals Timetable

Appeals at the normal round of adimissions to Reception will be heard within 40 school days of the deadline for lodging appeals. Where the application was not made in time for a decision to be made, they will be heard within that 40 day period or, if that is not possible, within 30 days of the appeal being lodged. In-year admission appeals must be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged. Please refer to the policy for more detail.
